((OOC:Since this is the first time I'm doing this, I'll run it down for you. Ryan here will give you a brief description of a game of his (my) choosing and review it with a rating of 5 extinguishers of cheese graters (alternating each week). Feedback is appreciated to see if I should continue with this.))
Ryan here with you're video game review of the week! This week, I'll be reviewing The Godfather, by EA Games for the Playstation 2, XBOX, XBOX 360, and PC, Rated M for Mature. I'm reviewing this for the XBOX.
The main focus of this game is pretty simple. You create your own 1930's gangster and place him into some of the key moments in the original movie. Including the famous "Horse head in the bed" scene. The game starts off with you playing a gangster fending off some thugs. This section teaches you the controls and how to fight. After, it picks up years later where you are a member of a simple street gang who treat you unfairly, when Luca comes and straightens them out. Here is where you learn some more in depth ways to off a guy.
One of the finer points, in my opinion, is the extortion. It is simple, but effective. You have a bar when you're extorting someone, and you can hit them, hit their customers, or break furniture, and the bar rises. The higher it gets, the more you get each week. But be careful! If you do it too much, you break them and they fight back and you have to wait a while before you try it again.
One of the biggest selling points in this game is the voice acting. They have Marlon Brando playing Don Vito, James Caan reprising Sonny, Robert Duvall as Tom Hagen, but they don't have Al Pacino. But! But, they do have someone doing the voice acting of your character, unlike most "make your own" games.
And, as you can expect from EA games, the customization is completely detailed to the last mole on your upper lip. And that really sold it for me.
So, The Godfather gets 5 cheese graters out of 5.
I'm Ryan Bowdridge, and that's your video game review of the week!
