This Saturday, July 5, 2008 VCW presents High Rollin' 2008. The action will be off the charts as all six VCW Championships will be on the line. Just to make sure that the volume cranks all the way up to eleven, Sin City Epic 4 will take place.
The VCW Heavyweight Championship will be on the line when "The Godfather" Joe Patoni defends the title against the man he defeated for it, Dazza "The King". Patoni managed to not only win the title, but also injured Dazza's neck in the process. As if regaining the title wasn't motivation enough for Dazza, Patoni twisted the knife on Longshot this past when he hit Hennessy with the GKO in the Champions vs. Challengers match. Expect a hard fought battle between these two veterans.
Speaking of Hennessy, assuming that she is healthy enough to go on Saturday night, she'll be challenging "The Rose" Elisha Knight for the VCW Women's Championship. Hennessy earned her title shot by winning a Sudden Death 4-Way against Jade Emira, Sarah Cole, and Arrianna Lyra. Although Hennessy seems to have the experience edge, Elisha also has major backup in the form of Mass Destruction. The Rose has repeatedly come out on top in a number of situations where she seemed to have zero chance.
This past week on Longshot, Andy Montoya defeated Damion then Jack Francis to win the tournament and become the number one contender. In what should be a fantastic contest, Andy will challenge EFF Dash for the VCW Juniorweight Championship. Montoya has just recently returned to VCW after taking some time off due to the death of his father. Combined with the fact that Andy holds the record for longest reigning Juniorweight Champion in VCW history, he should have no problem finding the proper motivation to come out on top. Dash though is still riding a massive wave of momentum following winning the title and driving Luke Devlin out of VCW at All In II and then defending the title successfully against Damion at Snake Eyes. Can motivation trump momentum? Tune in to High Rollin' and find out.
Samantha Swift dropped a bombshell on Julian Doom this week when she informed him that Slaughterhouse will be defending the VCW Hardcore Championship against VCW Legend, Gigante Fujima. Both men are coming off brutal feuds, and are likely the worse for wear. Fujima has been dealing with Paranoid in recent weeks, and should still keep his eyes open for the masked man. The other masked man in the equation is also the Hardcore Champion. Slaughterhouse had been having the fight of his life against Daniel Diamondeye in recent months, including suffering his first (and only) defeat at his hands. Slaughterhouse came out on top though, winning the Final Encounter against Diamondeye to reclaim the title. Expect blood.
The VCW Las Vegas Championship will be on the line when Derek Razor gets his rematch against the champion, Jason Shepard. Razor has proved himself to be a great wrestler in recent months, but he was unseated as champion at last month's Snake Eyes pay per view. Shepard, though still new to VCW has been turning heads in just about every match he's had. Both men are looking to take the next step up, but which one wants it more?
Rob Wallace & Scott Starnes will defend the "Scottish" Tag Team Championships against Synergy Inc. Beckett and Jordan earned their title shot with a hard-fought victory over Mass Destruction on Longshot. Synergy Inc. has promised that if they win, they'll be restoring the titles to be the 'VCW' Tag Team Championships, but winning them is easier said than done. Starnes and Wallace have been champions since Double Down in March when they claimed the vacant title in a 4-Way Eliminator. Can the streak continue or will the mercenaries of Synergy Inc get the job done?
And lastly, we have Sin City Epic 4. Thirty men will enter the ring in a randomly determined order. You are eliminated if you touch the floor for any reason. The winner of the match will get a shot at either the VCW Heavyweight or Juniorweight Championship at Windfall in August.
Hopefully the winner of the Epic can follow in th footsteps of the Born-Again Kid, who won the 1st Epic and went on to win the Juniorweight Championship. Both Kevin Cage and Vertigo (who won Epics 2 and 3 respectively) failed in their attempts to win the Heavyweight Championship. Ironically, none of the 3 former winners are currently active in VCW.
Regardless of any 'curses' that there may be, one thing that is for certain is that Sin City Epic 4 will be entertaining to say the least.
Don't miss VCW High Rollin' 2008 on July 5 as we drive toward Windfall 2008 and VCW's 2-Year Anniversary.
