I'm more lenient towards the first set of news, where his wife suffocated their son, called Benoit in an emergency, then Benoit strangled her in an uncontrolled state... then hung himself, knowing he couldn't live with this turn of events. I refuse to believe he's a murderer. Goodbye Benoit... You were one of the best.

There are these posts over at NMZ in Benoit mod threads about "Who would want to play as a murderer?" He was still a great wrestler, Chris Benoit the wrestler did not murder anyone. Chris Benoit the person murdered someone. I'm leaning toward the Chris Nowinski theory, on how multiple concussions within his career and the subsequent medications used had a long term effect on his mental state. What I don't like about this whole media onslaught is that "journalists" who are not familiar at all with wrestling are saying some pretty stupid things like "Maybe Kevin Sullivan did it." "Maybe Benoit killed Sherri Martel." "Maybe he did it because he was depressed about going from the Four Horseman to RAW." They need to do some research, or at least watch the Benoit DVD. I just find it insulting that people who don't know how wrestling works are commenting on how they think it all happened. It's just disgusting.
Chris, Nancy, Daniel... rest in peace.

Come on guys its pretty much confirmed that Benoit killed them and not in a pleasant or peacefull way either. He was out his mind on all kinds of drugs and really depressed but for some reason he never told anyone and it never showed. Apparently he would tell Eddie everything involving his life and since he lost him he pretty much kept it all bottled up.
Another victim of the wrestling world. Hopefully all the media attention will make people, wrestlers and the promoters look at this business and sort it out.

What do you expect them to do to "fix" the business?

Nope.
But maybe it could give the wrestlers a chance to have move time off during the year as a recovery time or just a holiday. Or WWE having a break all together for a little while like in football. Or even having the drugs policy becoming more serious such as Randy Orton actually getting fired for doing steroids instead of being suspended for a few weeks then braought back into the mainevent. Anything to stop wrestlers from dying at the age of 40.

Well...
1) They can't have breaks. I mean, they can, but they have a much higher demand for constant action than in football and baseball and such.
2) I agree, the drug policies should be more strictly enforced, but they'd run the risk of losing some of their bigger stars (like Orton) and a possible fold could occur.
3) Orton toked a J, no steroid shizznit.

Well, they could always cut down on the house shows, or rotate the house shows between the brands. (like have Raw house shows for two weeks, then have Smackdown house shows for two weeks, with the tv schedules remaining the same.) My personal feelings on the Benoit situation are that a variety of factors all crashed in and combined to cause what happened. (like Steroids, his kid, concussions, etc.) I don't think that this whole thing should turn into a witch hunt, but then again, it would probably be better to have the business be clean. Now, assuming the WWE's 'weelness policy' is actually effective, there are other ways around it, like Human Growth Hormone (HGH), which is what is going on in baseball now. I do believe he did those things. I don't believe we have all the information as to why (and may never get it). Chris Benoit was a favorite from back in his WCW days. (before I found ECW hidden on the Spanish Channel at 1am on Saturday ) The end of the Chris Benoit story was horrible and depressing. But that doesn't change how great the rest of the story was. V

I agree V, Benoit is a legend in wrestling but I cannot in all honesty watch any of his matches again without my first thought being that he killed his family. I hate the feeling, but I bet a lot of people will see that before they see his wrestling excellence.
WWE taking a break is just a suggestion but I do think they need to do something to stop the talent become completely fucked up be it physically or mentally. The road schedule these guys go through is horrible.
To movingpictures.
See I think they could have a break because it's not like WWE have any real competition right now. Sure there is TNA but they are still no where near the level of WWE. They could even leave storylines on a cliffhanger or something so that when they pick things up again they could dive right back into things and everybody will be refreshed. Or they could have a few months of just RAW or a few of just Smackdown and a few of just ECW giving each brand wrestlers a break.
To your second point maybe they should actually fire a mainevent guy who does or has taken drugs just to show the rest of the lockeroom how serious this can be and maybe it will wake up other wrestlers. I'm sure Orton at one point got suspended for roids, think it was back at last yrs ECW ONS. You can tell anyway just by how big he has gotten in the last year. I also doubt very much that WWE would fold if they fired a maineventer.
