On this date in 2007, current VCW Heavyweight Champion, Dazza "The King" was set to face "The German Wonder" Kurt Engelhorn at California Pro Wrestling's 1st Anniversary Show, CPW Rebound 2007.
Engelhorn, already a former MWA Television Champion as well as a former NMHC Heavyweight Champion, attacked The King in the locker room. The match became a Hardcore Match as they battled their way all the way from the backstage area out to the ring.
Engelhorn showed the tenacity that would lead him on to future title reigns, holding the CPW West Coast Championship and the VCW Hardcore Championship. Dazza had already risen to great heights though. He was already a former CPW Tag Team Champion, a former CPW Heavyweight Champion, and a former CPW Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion (which he would go on to win again). Engelhorn was one of the men who Dazza defeated to unify the CPW, SWF and NMHC Heavyweight Championships to create the CPW Triple Crown Championship at CPW Advent of Anarchy 2006.
The two men had history and they pulled out all the stops to exact their vengeance on each other. Dazza proved to be the better man that night, hitting The King's Hammer from the top rope to score the victory in this classic contest.
